Weekly Activities

Five youth sessions a week for young people aged between 13 - 19 years old:

Monday Mixed Sessions from 6:00pm - 9:00pm (Birkby Community Centre)
Tuesday & Thursday mixed sessions from 6:00pm – 9:00pm (Thornton Lodge Community Centre)

Thursday Girls only Leadership session from 6:00pm - 9:00pm (Birkby Community Centre)
Friday Leadership Session from 6:00pm - 9:00pm (Thornton Lodge Community Centre)
Sunday ‘girls only’ sessions from 5:00pm-7:00pm (Thornton Lodge Community Centre)

These sessions provide an ideal opportunity for young people to socialise, make friends, use internet, join discussion groups, get help with homework, read news papers, get help with preparing CVs and applications for jobs, discuss personal issues and receive advise, watch TV, listen to music or simply chill.

These sessions are very much about providing a safe space for young people to be with and amongst their peer group. The sessions also serve to engage young people’s hopes, aspirations and interests. Many young people from these sessions go onto join other projects supported by PYF.

Other Activities

Two residentials (One for male and one for female) are offered every year as part of PYF leadership development programme. These are very popular with parents and young people and are usually awaited for with much anticipation.

PYF Football Academy:

This is to support young people who have a keen interest in football. Through the academy we provide them with the coaching support, facilities and opportunities for playing in the local league.  This initiative is also part of PYF’s healthy living programme for young people through sports.

Charity work:

From time to time young people are encouraged and supported to get involved in raising funds for charitable causes. This is part of volunteering activities aimed at giving young people a sense of affiliation with local and international humanitarian causes.

Disability project:

To provide social and leisure support to young people with disabilities from the South Asian communities by providing appropriate and stimulating recreational/ leisure activities.

Pakistani Youth Forum (PYF) sees young people as pioneers of change, our aims are:

  • To empower young people to lead from the front in all walks of life by developing their leadership potentials.
  • To prepare young people for a life in the wider society as desired and cherished citizens
  • To insulate in young people a deep sense of civic pride and responsibility
  • PYF provides a welcoming platform for young people to develop their ideas and translate these into tangible and meaningful actions. PYF offers a comprehensive, multi faceted and culturally appropriate programme of learning, leisure and sport

The PYF’s leadership programmes are very popular with young people. These are about giving young people self belief and skills to lead from the front as pioneers of ideas and action.

Practical help and support is made available for young people to access opportunities in education, training, employment and volunteering.

Young people are also encouraged and supported to access sustainable personal development opportunities in quality arts, sports and cultural learning.
